The use and quality of water is one of the main development challenges faced throughout the globe. The absence of clear mechanisms to monitor and protect freshwater sources threaten human health, impact ecosystems and hinder agriculture, as well as other productive activities. The large volumes of wastewaters, discharges and disposals added to climate related risks are threatening the availability of water.
According to the United Nations, more than 1.8 billion people globally use a source of drinking water that is contaminated with fecal matter, in a context where over 80 per cent of wastewater is discharged into rivers or sea without any pollution removal, impacting about one-third of the global biodiversity. UNESCO reports that 90% of sewage in developing countries is discharged untreated directly into water bodies.
Our mission is to nurture collaboration for the sustainable use of water, championing open and transparent data throughout the globe.
Aqulytics is committed to the protection and sustainability of water, and supports the collaborative monitoring of wastewater and industrial discharges, helping international, national and local stakeholders’ broker partnerships to improve access and quality of freshwater sources.
We fully support the 2030 Global Agenda. Our work helps governments, industries and civil society support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals:
Goal 6: “Ensure access to water and sanitation for all”
Our technological platform helps governments, private sector, civil society and communities to improve water quality by strengthening monitoring and oversight on wastewaters and discharges. We provide our users with analytical tools to assess the evolution of physical, chemical, biological and organoleptic parameters while ensuring compliance with national and international standards. This process, also helps improve water-use efficiency across all sectors and ensure the sustainability of and supply of freshwater resources.
Goal 3: “Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages” and Goal 12: “Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns”.
We provide Governments and the Industry with a data management solution to support the efficient use of freshwater resources, tracking chemicals and wastes within water. We therefore help minimize the adverse impacts of pollutants on human health and the environment, helping reduce the number of deaths and illnesses from hazardous chemicals, pollution and contamination.
Goal 15: Sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation, halt biodiversity loss
Aqulytics is building the largest global database on the health and state of water in support of the conservation, restoration and sustainable use of inland freshwater ecosystems. Our big data analytics function will be paramount to support the responsible use of water resources.
Goal 16: Promote just, peaceful and inclusive societies and Goal 17: Revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development
Our collaborative monitoring and reporting initiative allows international, national and local stakeholders’ broker partnerships to improve information and access on the health and state of freshwater sources. This will help mobilize and share knowledge, expertise and experiences in support of the sustainability of freshwater resources, while preventing and reducing conflicts.
